In short, a funeral celebrant is someone who brings people together and helps them mark the life of the person who has died.

A funeral takes place with their coffin. Usually at a cemetery or a crematorium. And is often constrained by a time slot.

A memorial can take place anywhere. It’s less constrained by time. And often has their ashes or their photograph representing them.

For a funeral ceremony, I’m often called by the funeral director. I aim to call you (their client) within 24-72h.

And we can either meet face to face (in a place that’s comfortable for you), online (via Zoom, Teams, WhatsApp, Messenger), over the phone, or by email (although this will be much less personal.

If you’re getting there under your own steam, aim to be there roughly 30-minutes before.

The roads around some crematoria and cemeteries can be a nightmare – double-check your route and leave plenty of time.

If the funeral director is taking you, they’ll make sure you arrive on time.
