About me
Born near London. Raised in the Valleys of Wales. I’ve lived in Portsmouth on the sunny South Coast of England for over 20-years.
I’m allergic to fir trees. Love a cup (or an IV) of Earl Grey. And can often be found procrastinating. But when not busy pottering about, I’m at the allotment, on the paddle-board (weather willing), walking the woods and marshes, or being shorter than a sunflower.
From working on a farm to being a nightclub manager – I found my niche in End of Life…
- Death doula;
- 6 years arranging funerals and taking care of the deceased;
- 1 year guiding trainees through their Funeral Service Diplomas;
- 3 years as chapel attendant and cremation technician.
And then I became a funeral celebrant…
For lots of reasons!
- I love a good funeral;
- I love to write;
- I love life;
But more importantly, I wanted to bring my skills and knowledge together with who I am and continue my work dispelling the taboo of death, one ceremony at a time.
Working with me
Whether you’re looking to hold a funeral or a memorial ceremony for someone who has died, you can expect my understanding, compassion, best, and humour. And guidance:
My area
Based in Portsmouth. My area stretches east from Fareham to Bognor Regis. Taking in Havant, Hayling Island, Emsworth, and Chichester.
With that said, though. I am willing to travel.
My qualifications and associations
I’m a certified funeral celebrant with The Celebrants Collective.
I’ve a diploma in funeral arranging and am a qualified cremation technician, and work closely with funeral homes and my old crematorium to keep my knowledge current.
I’m a non-practicing Death Doula and loudly promote their adage of ‘Live well, die well’.
I’ve adopted the Funeral Celebrant Accord, which guides the attributes and development of a celebrant.
I’m a Dementia Friend, helping where I can.
